Engie North America Inc. has found another buyer for the output of its Triple H Wind Project in Hyde and Hughes counties, S.D., enabling it to procure construction financing.

The project, targeted to be 250 MW, will feature about 100 wind turbines, although the actual number will be dependent on the final capacity of the selected turbine model, the company said in a Sept. 19 email statement.

Boston University has agreed to purchase 50 MW, or 205 GWh of electricity annually, from the facility under a 15-year contract. The university plans to resell the power for use in the midwestern U.S.

"Local projects on the New England grid would displace less CO2 because the New England grid is already pretty green," said Anthony Janetos, chair of Boston University's Climate Action Plan Task Force, in a Sept. 18 statement.

Engie North America said the other output buyer is a large U.S. retailer, which S&P Global Market Intelligence has identified as Walmart Inc. The retailer agreed to purchase 150 MW.

Construction of the project will start in the spring. The project is expected to enter operation in 2020.
