UNITED STATES: Data company Iron Mountain will buy the electricity from 145MW of NextEra Energy's 220MW Pretty Prairie project, under development in eastern Reno County, Kansas.

The power purchase agreement (PPA) for Pretty Prairie, formerly called Silver Lake, is for 15 years. The project is due online in late 2019.

"This agreement with NextEra Energy Resources is a critical next step towards achieving our goals for utilising renewable energy for 100% of our global portfolio," said Kevin Hagen, vice president of environmental social and governance strategy, Iron Mountain.

"What is especially exciting is that, with this agreement and the achievement of other milestones, 100% of our data centre business now operates on renewable electricity," he said.

Boston-based Iron Mountain already buys power from the 253MW Amazon Wind Farm Texas, EDP Renewables’ 103MW Meadow Lake III in Indiana, and NJR Clean Energy Ventures’ 39.9MW Ringer Hill in Pennsylvania."
