German developer WPD AG has entered into a power purchase agreement with Google LLC for the output of the approximately 60-MW Kuuronkallio wind farm in Finland.
Under the contract, wpd will supply the Alphabet Inc. subsidiary's Finnish data center with more than 200 GWh annually starting in 2020, according to a Sept. 24 release.
The company's fourth wind farm in Finland is currently under construction and due to begin commercial operations by the end of 2019.
We are delighted to be able to implement a marketing model with Google which points the way for the further expansion of independent, decentralized electricity supplies, especially in this market, WPD Director Gernot Blanke said.
Wpd acts as a partner for the development, financing, construction and operation of onshore and offshore wind farms.
